At Vera’s you’ll find wholesome, home made food with lots of healthy options (as well as some delicious cakes and treats) and a warm welcome from Emily and Warren and their amazing team.

Emily and Warren aren’t hard to spot… we may have secretly nicknamed them The Long Blondes for reasons that will become apparent when you visit, but sssshhhh… that’s our secret!

Emily is Vera’s great-granddaughter and, just like her namesake (Emily’s middle name may start with a ‘V’, we’re not telling), has always had the hospitality bug. Warren was born in South Africa and split his childhood between there and the UK – he and Emily met in Vietnam and they’ve been a team ever since. Warren’s behind most of the beautiful furniture you can see at Vera’s – and everything he’s made has been by hand. More importantly, he’s also our juicing aficionado.

Warren creates his own juices and smoothies and is always finding new ingredients and combinations.

Our namesake, the original ‘Vera’, was an exceptional lady and she raised the first veggie our family knew, and the second Vera in the family, Emily’s Grandma, Toots (Marjorie Vera). Toots was a veggie from the start, all the way back in 1923, quite a long way before it was on anyone’s radar.

It’s with Toots in mind that Vera’s Kitchen makes sure veggies and vegans are as well-catered for as meat eaters – our Grandfather, Valentine (a confirmed carnivore), was forever stomping out of places when they failed to provide something Toots could eat so we’re keen to make sure that there is something delicious for all our guests, whatever your preference might be!

We’re very allergy conscious too and have lots of gluten-free and dairy-free options for you to try.
